I ended up using the AirPods Max a lot less than I anticipated when I bought them back in 2020. They still sound better than anything else I own, five years later, but they’re not quite comfortable enough for me to wear them all day while at my desk. They’re a little bit too heavy, and fit a little bit too tightly on my very large head. They’re also the only thing I need to regularly charge with a lightning cable, which is a bit of a pain. The Apple TV remote doesn’t count.
Still – they sound absolutely incredible. If there’s a new album out that I want to experience at its very best, or a movie I want to watch with the best audio experience possible, I reach for my AirPods Max. For anything else, the AirPods Pro 2 are my go-to.
