Since I’m not The Wirecutter, I haven’t compared the Ergotron LX monitor arm to a dozen other options before writing this, but it does exactly what I want it to do and it does it well. It has a listed maximum load weight of 11.3 kilos, and it handles my 6 kilo Studio Display XDR without any issues at all. Adjustments are easy to make and the monitor stays in place over time, and the clamp on the base is very sturdy.
My only real gripe with the Ergotron LX is the cable management channel on the monitor arm. The two monitor cables (power and Thunderbolt) fit without issues, but the channel was too small to fit those two plus an HDMI cable back when I had my monitor hooked up to both my Mac and a PC.
