Nitecore NB 10000 Review

The Nitecore NB 10000 power bank has been the go-to powerbank for weight conscious backpackers for a long time. I got two of them to replace my older and heavier Anker power banks for my two month hike along the Swedish mountain chain in 2023. The longest distance without access to a wall plug on that hike was eight days, and the two NB 10000s kept my iPhone 12 Pro charged during that week and change with power to spare. Each of them have a listed capacity of 10 000mAh, and the 154g weight makes them among the lightest options with that capacity. Despite the low weight and the small form-factor, it has a rugged carbon fibre case with a waterproof rating of IPX5, which has been enough to handle a bump or two as well as the build-up of moisture in my hiking storage pods during rainy days in the mountains.

The Nitecore NB 10000 includes two USB C outlets, which charge at up to 18W and has an output of 18W for both ports, and 22.5W when only one is in use. The hard to read battery life indicator in the first generation has thankfully been improved in more recent versions. Whether you want some spare power in your laptop bag for emergencies or a power bank that’ll keep your phone charged on long hikes, the Nitecore NB 10000 is a great option and well worthy its lofty reputation.
