Near the end of winter, I got the itch to write more again. It happens every twelve months or so. Around that time, I stumbled on a personal blog with a review section. I lost the link, sadly. (Thanks to Jano for pointing out that it’s Paul Stamatious site that I found!) The thing that appealed to me was that the only theme for the stuff he reviewed was that it was stuff he used. Coffee gear, cars, displays, bags, cameras, you name it. As he replaced old gear with new, he reviewed the new gear and noted what it replaced. Sort of a combined colophon and changelog for the stuff in your life.
I love that idea, and promptly decided to steal it. For me, the new gear section on the site is a chance to write about all of the stuff in my life that I have opinions on, but don’t think merit a full review in the blog. Since the only theme is “my stuff”, I can write about whatever item of mine that I have on my mind at the moment. Hiking backpacks, video games, cars, displays, thermoses… Earlier today, I added a review of the Fellow Aiden coffee maker to the growing review directory, and I have a list of other coffee gear I’d like to get to as well.
The title of this post is a bit hyperbolic still, but at 55 gear reviews, it’s getting there.
