On paper, the Saddleback Leather Slim Business Card Holder is nothing special. Three pieces of brown leather, stitched together to fit six to seven cards on each side and small enough to go pretty much anywhere when folded up. The thing that makes it special to me is how long I’ve had it. I’ve tried to figure out exactly when I ordered the Saddleback Leather Slim Business Card Holder, but this time, my email inbox sleuthing failed me. I’d guess it’s been with me for half my life at this point, which would make it the oldest item on this gear list by a wide margin.
It’s aged beautifully. The original stitching is still in place and showing no signs of giving up, and the leather has grown much darker and smoother, with scratches appearing bright at first and then fading into the leather with each passing year, like old scars. It’s probably the one physical item on this list that I would miss the most if I lost it.
